BIGGEST CZECH CAR MANUFACTURER AND LARGEST PRODUCER OF BICYCLES HAVE JOINED FORCES
ŠKODA and SUPERIOR have been working together since 2009 when the carmaker started their first bike production in the headquarters of SUPERIOR in northern Moravia. SUPERIOR's involvement with ŠKODA bikes is not only production; local engineers take care of development and product management too.
After ŠKODA signed the prolongation of the sponsoring contract with the A.S.O. agency, the organizer of the Tour de France, the company addressed SUPERIOR with a request for production of limited edition of the GRAND TOUR carbon road bike. A move, which was a logical progress towards even closer cooperation between the largest Czech car maker and country's largest bicycle manufacturer.
The GRAND TOUR models will be first used by the VIP clients in the course of the ŠKODA hospitality programme at the Tour de France 2014. They will be made available for purchase on selected showrooms starting this year’s fall.
„The ŠKODA GRAND TOUR models have originated from the carbon top models by SUPERIOR. We invested almost two years into the development of these bikes. They are performance oriented racing machines, where we focused on the most efficient transfer of energy from pedalling and precise handling," says the product manager for SUPERIOR Petr Lavička about the GRAND TOUR models. The bikes will be available with the Shimano Ultegra components; the frame is adapted for easy assembly of electronic shifting systems.
The first GRAND TOUR models will leave the assembly lines of the Moravian bicycle factory in the middle of June.
